Who We Are

Our church people are involved in many forms of service and missional outreach both locally and globally.  The Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene Mission Council is a group of dedicated folks provides leadership through local, regional, and international activities.  They lead and direct many of the missions of the local church is comprised of 10-12 members of the congregation who have a passion for missions.   Current council members are: Rebecca Birnel, Barbara Demmerly, Margaret Jack, Diane Loehner, Barbara Olson, Ray and Pauline Olson, Joanne Turner, Debra Howard, President, and Michael Emerson, Teen representative.

 

-Service, such as serving at NW Connect, our local compassionate ministry site; and sponsoring Work and Witness teams

-Raising awareness of global and local needs, through short videos, mission books for children, youth and adults, hearing from missionaries on deputation, weekly praises and prayer requests

-Raising funds to support local, regional, and global work in compassionate ministries, as well as spreading the gospel, and preparing and equipping other for ministry

 

This group plans and executes an annual schedule of education and events to support a missional focus, and also oversees a budget that provides financial support to local Nazarene and non-Nazarene ministries, such as Northwest Connect, Valley Partners, Union Gospel Mission, and Anna Ogden Hall.   In the past decade there have been a variety of Work and Witness trips* to Europe, and Meso-America, as well as local home mission churches in the Pacific NW.
